Weymouth Beach

Weymouth’s fine Georgian seafront is an impressive backdrop to the long arc of fine, golden sand. The beach and esplanade, historic harbour, marina and nature reserve encircle the rejuvenated town centre combining the traditional and modern to create a very special place to visit – at any time of year.

The sands and safe water of Weymouth Beach and bay are some of the finest in Great Britain. We pride ourselves on excellent beach management. A Beach Control Centre, first aid post, lost children centre and inshore lifeguard facility operated by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution Beach Rescue between May and September with additional cover provided by the Weymouth Canoe Lifeguards at weekends and bank holidays to ensure our visitors safety and comfort. The ENCAMS Seaside Award reflects our high standards of cleanliness, safety, information, facilities, Water Quality and environmental management.

There are several ramps onto the main beach plus further ramps onto Greenhill and Preston pebble beaches. A Beach Wheelchair can be loaned from the Beach Office. The Resort is constantly developing for the future whilst tastefully retaining the best of family fun including trampolines, merry go round, pedaloes and Punch and Judy.

Deckchair and suntraps can be hired from several points along the beach. Generations have marvelled at the incredible sand models made entirely from Weymouth’s fine sand . Weymouth is one of the few places in the World where this type of art is created.

Throughout the year the beach hosts several major events including the International Beach Kite Festival, Fireworks, Tag Rugby, Handball, Volleyball, Motocross etc.

From lazing on the beach or sitting along the Seafront the views are inspirational with the panoramic bay and World Heritage Dorset coastline extending as far as the eye can see.
